Family of 8 and a friend dies in sleep ... After burial of mother

Grief and sorrow enveloped Umuakuru village in Emekuku, Owerri North Local government area of Imo State, Nigeria following the mysterious death of nine members of a family whose bodies were discovered in their room early hours of the day. The family had buried their 98-year-old mother, Mrs Felicia Njoku on Saturday, in their country home. The deceased include Mr. Pascal Njoku, his wife Juliana and their five children, Ebere (first daughter), Ifunanya (second daughter), Chibueze (son) Jackline (third daughter) and Uchechi (last daughter). Others, who also died along with the Njokus, were Mr. Njoku’s sister, Christina Uba (nee Njoku) and her friend Catherine who accompanied her to the burial. A family relation who pleaded anonymity stated that with the burial of their mother over and attendant funeral activities completed, the embattled family retired to bed late in the night but could not wake up the following day. However, fingers were being pointed at a member of the family whom the source said had earlier threatened to deal with the late Njoku and his family over a lingering family problem. Not prepared to take chances over the threat, Njoku’s wife, Juliana reportedly compelled him to relocate herself and their children for safety, but her advice was ignored. New Lagos Traffic-Law Catches First-Victim - Bullion Van Driver

Officials of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit has impounded a bullion van and arrested its driver in Apapa area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for driving against traffic. The bullion van driver, Seun Odukoya, faces one year jail term without an option of fine as a first offender for flouting the new Lagos State Road Traffic Law 2012 while the bullion van will be forfeited to the state government. The new traffic law says that any bullion van driver who drove against the flow of traffic on conviction by the court will be jailed for one year as a first offender and three years as subsequent offender without an option of fine while the van will be seized by the state government. The bullion van was arrested on Creek Road, Apapa while conveying money to a new generation bank in the area. Officials of the warehouse had to come with another van to transfer the money from the impounded van to the new generation bank. The arrested driver, the first casualty of the new traffic law, and the van with the money were taken to the Taskforce office in Alausa while the driver will be arraigned in court. The bullion van, with registration number BV 171 BDG, Lagos is owned by the Banker’s Warehouse, while officials of the warehouse have been begging to get the van released but to no avail. Five Die After Eating Amala In Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command, Ondo state, Nigeria has begun investigation into the mysterious death of a family of five in Bolorunduro village in the state. It was gathered that the family died on August 22, 2012, after a yam flour meal, popularly known as amala. The deceased are: Michael Onoja, 56; his wife, Comfort, 42; Monday, 24; Patience, 21; and the couple’s eight-year-old grandchild, Joy Odoh. The family is said to be from Benue State but had been living and working in Ondo state as farmers. The police added that the popular Yoruba meal, which was prepared by Patience, was the family’s last meal. They were said to have complained of stomachache and later died in the hospital which neighbours had rushed them to. “It was Joy, their grand daughter that first died after complaining of stomach ache after eating the amala. She was buried, but strangely the other members also complained of stomach ache and they later died in the hospital,” a source who requested anonymity said. However, before Onoja gave up the ghost, he told his neighbours that they ate the yam flour and he suspected that it might have been poisoned. When contacted, the state police spokesperson, Aremu Adeniran, said the corpses of the deceased had been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital Mortuary at Akure so that an autopsy can be conducted. He added that investigation had also commenced into the deaths. “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation,” he said.

Couple Sends Best-man To Prison over Wedding Suit

A newly married woman, Mrs. Ify Anyanwu has arrested and charged to a Lagos court her husband’s bestman, Chris Abasuonu for assaulting her when she demanded the suit he wore as her husband’s best man during their wedding. The 31- year old Chris was charged before Apapa Magistrate’s court where he was remanded in prison custody. Trouble started between the couple and Chris on their wedding day. It was gathered that Chris started demanding N11,000 from Ify’s husband, saying that it was the amount he spent on sewing his suit for the wedding. When the woman heard it, she felt embarrassed and shocked over Chris’ attitude just as the couple was settling down after the wedding. She reportedly gave him the money and asked him to return the suit since he had collected the money. Though Chris said he collected the money, he did not return the suit. According to Ify, after the wedding, Chris started telling neighbours that her husband borrowed money for their wedding. She said Chris later started demanding from them the money he used to sew the suit on their wedding day, threatening to embarrass them publicly. “We raised the money and gave him and asked him to return the suit,” she said. Sheep gives birth to a half-human creature in Nigeria

Residents of Sokoto metropolis in Nigeria are coming to terms with an unbelievable incident that occurred in the city recently, when a sheep gave birth to a monstrous being at a government owned veterinary clinic in the Sokoto State capital. The monster-like creature was discovered in a sheep’s womb during an operation carried out by veterinary surgeons. The inability of the sheep to deliver made it necessary for the surgeons to carry out the operation, after which the sheep delivered a monster baby that looked half-human. A Thirty-year-old woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Elom from Umuoru Ezzangbo in Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi State has been arrested by police for allegedly stealing and selling a two-year old girl, Favour Onwe for the sum of N100, 000. While parading the woman at the police headquarters Abakaliki yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Sylvester Igbo, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said on July 16, 2012 the parents of the child, Mr. Aloysius 62 and Mrs. Ngozi Onwe 48 raised the alarm of the missing of the little girl without knowing that it was the aunt of the child who stole and sold her. He said that one Nkurika Okonkwo who is still at large bought the child for N100, 000 from one Izuchukwu Okeke from Awka South in Anambra State, Nigeria saying that the woman who bought her took to her heels when she got wind that police were looking for her. According to him, “The sister of the father of the child was discovered to be the person that stole the child and took her to Awka in Anambra State where she had contact with the man who connected her to the woman who bought the child. “The man who connected her to the woman is one Izuchukwu Okeke from Awka South in Anambra State, Nigeria. So, the person that was alleged to have bought the child is called Nkurika Okonkwo, though the woman is at large. When the woman got wind of police presence in the matter, she abandoned the child and took to her heels and the police came to recover the child. “The police have been trying to track the woman but it has not yielded any result, we are still looking for the woman. So when the child was brought here, the parent came and identified the child as their child. This happened at Ohaukwu but was later transfered to the headquarters”, explained. On how the child was recovered, the PPRO said: “The person that stole the child is an aunt to the child and when the child was missing, she was worried and was looking for the child, until we got information that she was the last person seen with the child. When the police mounted pressure and interrogated her, she confessed to the crime saying she sold the child at the sum of N100, 000. ANGRY YOUTHS CHASE KING AWAY FROM PALACE IN NIGERIA

Angry natives of Igburowo community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria yesterday chased away their paramount ruler, Oba Pius Akinfesola Adewole, from his palace over alleged gross corruption and indiscipline. The action was witnessed by a large number of kinsmen, who trooped out to show their disapproval for Adewole’s alleged sins. The protest, which began at about 6am, involved chiefs and prominent citizens of the community, who expressed their feelings in songs over the alleged misrule of the traditional ruler, which they claimed had brought shame and disrespect to the community. The villagers had earlier written a protest letter, dated August 3, 2012, which was signed by about21 of their representatives, representing various interest groups, including high chiefs, female chiefs, otherwise called Opoji in local parlance, as well as male and female natives, members of Igburowo Development Committee (IDC), youth association and the secretary of the Akinbumiti Ruling House. The letter was addressed to Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. They demanded that the oba vacates the throne over some atrocities allegedly perpetrated in the community. According to the letter, the monarch, who is known as the Akamuja of Igburowoland, was accused of forceful acquisition of land belonging to his subjects, frivolous litigation over subjects’ property, non-performance of traditional rites and assault on his chiefs and subjects. He was also alleged to have connived with an indigene to defraud the community of N3.6 million meant for the payment of electricity bill to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Plc. The indigene, who was allegedly nominated by the monarch as a representative of the community, was accused of diverting the money to his personal use. He is facing prosecution at a Magistrate Court over the allegation. Similarly, the monarch was also accused of running an autocratic regime by refusing to constitute the Oba-in-Council, several years after the death of some other high chiefs, called Iwarefas, who traditionally are required to run the township administration with him. 17 Afghans Beheaded for attending Dance Party

Insurgents beheaded 17 civilians in a Taliban-controlled area of southern Afghanistan, apparently because they attended a dance party that flouted the extreme brand of Islam embraced by the militants. The killings, in a district where U.S. Marines have battled the Taliban for years, were a reminder of how much power the insurgent group still wields in the south — particularly as international forces draw down and hand areas over to Afghan forces. The victims were part of a large group that had gathered late Sunday in Helmand province's Musa Qala district for a celebration involving music and dancing, said district government chief Neyamatullah Khan. He said the Taliban slaughtered them to show their disapproval of the event. All of the bodies were decapitated and cut into various pieces. Many Afghans and international observers have expressed worries that the Taliban's brutal interpretation of Islamic justice will return as international forces withdraw. Under the Taliban, who ruled the country from 1996 to 2001, all music and film was banned as un-Islamic, and women were barred from leaving their homes without a male family member as an escort.

Nigerian Government to Dialogue with Boko Haram Terrorist group

The Nigerian government says it has started informal talks with the Boko Haram terrorist organization in a bid to try to end deadly attacks by the militant Islamist group in Nigeria. A presidential spokesman said of the dialogue was through "backroom channels", without elaborating further. The group's main faction earlier this week ruled out peace talks. Boko Haram, which wants to create an Islamic state in Nigeria is accused of killing hundreds of people and targeting churches and other targets. "The form of the dialogue is that backroom channels are being used to reach across with the sole objective of understanding what exactly is the grievances of these persons are, what exactly can be done to resolve the crises," presidential spokesman Reuben Abati said. He said this was being done "in the overall best interest of ensuring peace and stability in Nigeria and the security of life and property". The spokesman added that the talks were going on with at least some members. Boko Haram is known to have several factions. This is the first official government confirmation of dialogue with the militant group. An earlier attempt at peace talks collapsed very quickly. The group has so far made no public comments over the latest revelation of the ongoing attempts towards negotiations

Cynthia Osokogu Was Killed By Her FaceBook Friends

Indications emerged, Tuesday, that the late Cynthia Osokogu, the only daughter of General Frank Osokogu (rtd), whose body was discovered in a Lagos morgue a month after she was declared missing, could have been murdered by her facebook acquaintances. Already, six persons, among them two university students, a pharmacist and an employee of the hotel where the 24-year-old post-graduate student was murdered have been arrested.

Investigation into the murder, as reliably gathered, revealed that Cynthia was strangled to death in the hotel by her assailants, who thereafter left with an undisclosed amount, her student identity card and phones. Report said the beautiful and vivacious Cynthia had chatted with the two undergraduates on facebook for months. In the process, they reportedly got to know that she owned a boutique in Nasarawa State, following which they reportedly had a business proposal with her, promising to host her whenever she visited Lagos. On her arrival at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, on July 22, 2012, she was reportedly picked up by the two undergraduates and driven to a hotel in Festac Town. Unknown to her, she was embarking on a journey of no return. At the hotel, her drink was reportedly drugged before she was strangled to death. It was reliably gathered that after her death, one of her assailants left the room and later put a call to the hoteliers, informing them that there was a corpse in one of the rooms. The hotel, as gathered, took the corpse to the Isolo General Hospital mortuary in Lagos Nigeria. Sources informed that efforts by the hoteliers to contact family of the deceased proved abortive as there was reportedly nothing to trace her close relatives or friends. Meanwhile, back in Nasarawa State where her family is said to be based, apprehension had set in following her disappearance. She was, therefore, declared missing, with her pictures dropped at some police divisions in the state. How the suspects were arrested: it was reliably gathered that after the murder, the killers deleted all information and chats with the deceased from their facebook. But, along the line, the deceased phone was dialled and one of the suspects reportedly answered. 8 Persons Arraigned For Drinking Ogogoro in Public

EIGHT persons including four women have been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate court in Lagos, for allegedly drinking local gin (popularly known as Ogogoro) and smoking in an unacceptable manner in the public. Nkereuwen Akpan, 29, James Patricia, 39, Jenifer John, 27, Salami Kazeem, 37, Festus Opara, 35, Princess Pius, 26, Gold Johnson, 27 and John Idoh, 32, were charged on two counts of misdemeanor and unlawful assembly. The prosecutor, Sgt. Uche Kalu, told the court that on August 14 at 1:20 am at Kazuma roundabout, Apapa, the accused persons unlawfully gathered to smoke and drink the local gin in a manner to cause fear and panic in the neighbourhood. Kalu said the offence of the accused contravened Sections 409 and 44(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2011. However, when the charge was read to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. K. Shonubi, granted them bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in the like sum each and adjourned the matter till September 17

Prayer Warrior Bathes 15-year-old Girl With ‘holy’ Hot Water

It was indeed a baptism of fire when a 25-year-old prayer warrior with a Pentecostal church went berserk and bathed a 15-year-old girl with Holy Ghost hot water. The incidence which occurred in the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra state came as a shock to the neighbors and co tenant. The self acclaimed ‘powerful woman’ of God who is currently cooling her heels in the police cell at the Central Police Station, Onitsha, went on the rampage in the early hours of Thursday at No 3, Idoko Street, Onitsha, pouring hot water on the unsuspecting girl, Chiemeri Onuegbu. Onuegbu received the baptism of hot water when she was doing some laundering alongside other children in the compound where the suspect resided. The girl was immediately rushed to a private hospital along Modebe Road, Onitsha, where doctors are currently battling to save her life. Narrating the incidence, the victim’s aunt, Mrs. Josephine Anyaegbu, said Chiemeri just came on holidays and was attacked by the prayer warrior who lived with her younger sister in the security house in the compound. “Nobody knows her name. She came and lived with her younger sister called Charity in the security gate at the entrance of the compound. Every day she will lock herself inside the house and be shouting ‘Holy Ghost fire.’ One day I went to find out if she was okay, she came out and was speaking a strange language. “Then yesterday, my children and my niece were outside washing clothes because we are living in the flat on the ground floor. Suddenly she tip-toed and splashed hot water on the children but Chimmeri was bending down, backing her. That was perhaps her saving grace because she was spattered the hot water from behind, burning her back and her neck.” Mrs. Anyegbu further disclosed that after the first attack, the suspect went in to boil more water. A Nigeria model, Feisty Ufuoma Itoje, was, on Tuesday, disgraced off stage at the Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model (BINTM) competition after the judges were left unimpressed by her naked photo shoot. The 20-year-old Ufuoma, a law graduate, became the latest girl to be evicted from the competition. After declaring her unqualified for her rude photograph, the panel unanimously decided "she did not have what it takes to make it in the industry." A judge at the competition, Grace Woodward, an English fashion stylist and television presenter also added that she was a "one trick pony and lacked versatility." Another judge and presenter, Elle Macpherson said that  Ufuoma's photograph was "full of charm," saying the 20-year-old was ultimately deemed to have the least potential." "She's a beautiful girl, and that's it," said a designer, Julien Macdonald. "I like the fact you're smiling, but it's slightly awkward. "You're a sexy girl but I don' t think you're a top model. "You're sweet, but verging on the saccharine," she said. The guest panellist, George Lamb, who agreed with other judges' decision, said that "if this was Ufuoma's best shot, then she wasn't cutting it." It has been alleged that EME music (Banky W, Wizkid and Skales) took money for shows in the USA and Canada and never showed up for the concert. An angry fan that had lost $100 to EME music is bitter about the new scam and narrates his ordeal to us; he claimed that Banky W did the same thing in 2011 and again in 2012. Collecting money for show and never showing up with Wizkid and Skales. : “It all started in 2011, They were to visit many cities including San Jose in my California. The California show was scheduled for 23 July 2011. The show was to be done by California promoting team, Royal Entertainment. Royal Entertainment made an event page on Facebook and was promoting the event on Twitter. Promoters drove distances in northern California, and went as far south as Los Angeles (almost 1.5 hours flight/7-hour drive), selling tickets and handing out flyers. It was, hands down, the most hyped event of the year. Hundreds of people purchased tickets immediately, scheduled flights, called off work and made plans with friends and family to attend what was to be California's biggest show. News broke on 22 June, just two days shy of the first show in Washington DC that the DC show had been cancelled and that shows in the remaining cities were indefinitely postponed. Rumor had it that Wizkid and Skales were denied US visas. This was never confirmed by anyone of EME. Nonetheless, Banky W issued an apology: “As far as the EME tour goes… it hurts me to say we tried our very best to pull it off. We did everything we were supposed to. Twice. Truth is, there were some issues that are beyond our control, and we kept pushing, trying to resolve 'em. Nine Die As Boko-Haram Fights Fake Members

In Damaturu, the Yobe state capital in Nigeria, a clash between two factions of the notorious Boko Haram group has left nine people dead. A source said the sect was going after fake members of the gang. The gangs of gunmen clashed at Nayi-Nawa, one of the trouble spots in the town. The Yobe state Police spokesman Toyin Gbadegesin, who confirmed the incident, said the police were alerted by the ward head of the area and the bodies have been deposited at the mortuary. Gbadegesin said the affected persons are within ages 18-25 brackets. He said the bodies were riddled with gunshot injuries and deep knife cuts, indicating intense fighting. Gbadegesin said one person had been arrested. A resident, who begged for anonymity, said: “It is a clash of Boko Haram members and some boys perceived to be criminals who are committing atrocities in the town under the cover of Boko Haram.”
Commissioner of Police Patrick Egbuniwe also said a group of gunmen attacked his men in Gwange, but no life was lost. Female Banker Yinka Johnson Released – Overwhelming Photo, Video & Eye Witness Evidence Prove She Did Not Run Down LASMA Official Hammed Balogun

Over the weekend, the news broke out that a female Banker Yinka Johnson had been accused of crushing a LASTMA Official, Hammed Balogun with her green SUV car. The news went viral as Yinka kept insisting that she was being framed up by officials of Lastma; various sections of the media started calling for eyewitnesses to come forward with evidences. Over the last few days, eye witnesses came forward with photo evidence that illustrated that Yinka Johnson did not kill Hammed Balogun. Children Kidnapped, Chained & Trained To Become Suicide Bombers

 

The Al Qaeda group has claimed that it is kidnapping young children troubled Somali region and brainwashing them to launch future attacks. The 'terrorist schools' keep the children - some as young as seven - chained up to beds while they were taught an extreme version of Islam. The youths, all under 10-years-old, were also taught about suicide bombings and told they would go to paradise if they killed themselves in 'martyrdom-operations'. Pictures of the locked-up children were uncovered by terror investigator Neil Doyle after authorities carried out a raid on a school in Mogadishu. The classes, being carried out at an Islamic Boarding School, were being taught by a member of the Al Qaeda inspired Somali terrorist group Al Shabaab. The teacher claimed that the children were in chains because they were missing classes. Most of the children's parents were unaware they were there. The raid was one of a number of operations sanctioned by the government in recent months and led to the arrest of over 200 people. Mr Doyle said 'The images suggest Al Shabaab has turned to slavery in order to produce a generation of child soldiers and suicide bombers. Man jailed five years for raping three little girls

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, Nigeria on Monday sentenced a 45-year-old commercial motorcyclist and polygamist, Alabi Bakare, to five years imprisonment for raping three minors. Magistrate A.O. Isaac, who handed the verdict, said the sentence would be without an option of fine. He said since the convict had pleaded guilty to the offence, the court had no option than to sentence him as charged. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the convict, who was arraigned on August 8, had pleaded guilty to a charge of having carnal knowledge of the little girls aged between 3 and 5 years old. Earlier, the prosecutor, Barth Nwaokoye, told the court that Bakare raped the minors on August 3 at 7pm at 19, Oluwakemi Street, Alapere, Ketu area of Lagos Metropolis Nigeria. “Bakare was caught in the act by a co-tenant, who reported the matter to the police,” he said. He said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

Wedding Bride Kills Groom Hours before Wedding

A bride-to-be is charged with murder after allegedly stabbing her fiance just hours before the couple's wedding was to start near Whitehall, Pa. USA. Na Cola Darcel Franklin, 31, and her fiance Billy Rafael Brewster, 36, were planning to tie the knot in less than 72hrs, but at some point during the night, Franklin and Brewster began arguing and in the heat of the argument, Franklin allegedly stabbed Brewster twice with a kitchen knife, police said. "One of the stab wounds punctured his heart," When police arrived at the apartment, shortly after 2 a.m., they found Brewster bleeding from chest wounds on the second floor landing. He was transported to the Lehigh County Trauma center and pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m., less than seven hours before the wedding. Police said the couple was not alone in the apartment when the stabbing took place. The couple's children, and extended family members were also present because of the impending marriage. Franklin was arrested and charged with one count of criminal homicide. During her arraignment, Franklin told District Judge Donna Butler, "You got to check again," Franklin was unable to accept the fact that her groom was dead. She cried, rocked herself back and forth and eventually choked out, "I ... did ... not ... kill ... him ... on ... purpose." She is being held in Lehigh County Prison without bail. When Franklin told the District Judge via the video conference arraignment that she wanted to go home, the Judge responded, "You are not going home any time in the near future."

Nigerian Man Surrenders to Police after Kidnapping & Burying Prophetess Alive

A 27-year-old man, who allegedly took part in the kidnap of a prophetess after which the woman was buried alive in his compound, has surrendered to the police eight months after the dastardly act. The suspect complained that the spirit of the prophetess was tormenting him. Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the development, told our reporter in Asaba, Nigeria yesterday: “It was a case of kidnap and murder of a woman fully dressed in white garment church attire, which was committed on December 30, 2011 but the suspect surrendered self to police.” Muka said that following the confession of the suspect, another suspect was arrested while efforts were on to exhume the body of the woman. He said: “An unidentified woman said to be from Uzere and dressed in white garment church attire was kidnapped at Ughelli and taken to the house of one Emma, male, 27 years old, who is the first suspect, from Owahawa, Ughelli South Local Government Area. “The suspect surrendered himself to the police because his soul was troubled and confessed burying the victim alive in his compound when she became weak. His confession led to the arrest of another suspect. Detectives have also identified the spot where she was buried alive and the corpse would be exhumed when relations of victim are identified. We hereby call on members of the public, whose missing person depicts the description, to report to police area command Warri, while we are making effort to arrest others involved in the crime.”

Angry Father Bites Off 6-Year-Old Son's Penis in Shenzhen, China

Doctors in Shenzhen, China have reattached a 6-year-old boy's penis after his father bit it off, the Shanghai Daily reports. According to the paper, witnesses said the 32-year-old father was walking with his naked son and 4-year-old daughter on the street Thursday when he commanded the boy to bite his penis. When the boy refused, the man attacked him, held him down and bite off the boys penis. Horrified passersby subdued the man, forced him to spit out his son's penis, and called the police, China Buzz reports. The boy's reattachment surgery was successful, but it is too early to tell whether he will have normal use of the appendage. The Shanghai Daily reports that relatives will care for the boy's sister. Cops say the father is likely to have a mental illness -- he was recently seen pretending to strangle his son on their balcony, according to witnesses. Police also found that the man, who was only identified by the surname Yu, was severely in debt after a failed business venture and was often seen gambling. This isn't the first horrific story involving penis mutilation in recent months. Last year, 53-year-old Arun Sandhukha died after rats bit off his penis at a hospital in India. According to Asia Age, he was found in a pool of blood by his family, who had come to visit him. "No nurse was found at the scene and he was writhing in pain. His penis had been nibbled by rats," Sandhukha relative told the paper.

Doctor arrested for allegedly removing patient’s kidneys

The Police in Bauchi State, Nigeria have arrested a medical doctor, who allegedly removed the kidneys of a patient in a private hospital in the state. Dr. Sani, the proprietor of Aminchi Clinic in Yakubu Wanka, Bauchi, was alleged to have removed the two kidneys of one Abubakar Buba from Bununu, who is currently lying critically ill in hospital on dialysis. It was gathered that he needs about N7 million for kidney transplant to survive. The 23-year-old Abubakar, it was gathered, fell ill and was taken to the clinic by his parents. His condition was said to have worsened after the doctor allegedly carried out an operation on him. It was later alleged that Dr. Sani had for some unknown reasons removed Abubakar’s kidneys. However, as at press time the police was yet to unravel the motive for the doctors’ action.

A Danfo Killed The LASTMA Official. Not the Banker – Eyewitness

There are indications that the LASTMA official, Hammed Balogun, who was allegedly run over by a female banker, Yinka Johnson, might actually have been hit by a reckless commercial bus driver popularly known as  Danfo and not the banker as originally portrayed. Eye-witnesses at the scene of the incident however said that the official was hit by a Danfo driver and not the banker whose car was stationary when the incident happened. Doyin Akinlade, a Lagos TV producer, who claimed to be privy to the circumstances leading to her arrest, spoke to reporters saying that “the LASTMA authorities, for some unexplained reasons are trying to pin the alleged crime on Yinka Johnson whose car was not even moving at the time Hammed Balogun was hit. She did not even see the man being hit.” He agreed that the banker violated the law by driving against traffic but he insisted that it was not true that she hit the official. He also noted that there was no sign of impact on her car but the said Danfo had its windscreen broken. Yinka Johnson is a mother of three, including a two month old baby who is reported to be held with her in detention.
